When Sai Baba ate in Hemadpant's home



Sai Baba appears to one of his ardent devotees partaking a meal in his house. When Baba sends a message to a devotee, the universe conspires to fulfill it, such is the power of the Guru.

Hemadpant had a vision on the Holi full moon morning of the year 1917. He dreamt that Sai Baba, dressed like a Sanyaasi, woke him up from his sleep to let him know that that He shall visit his home during their bhojan time. When Hemadpant woke up, he could recall every detail of the dream, in an eidetic manner.

In these seven years of contact with Sai, meditating with complete discipline, never had  Hemadpant received a message like that from Sai Baba where Baba himself said that he would come to his house to partake a meal. Still, he told his wife about this, asking her to cook extra rice. Hemadpant’s wife was sceptical, wondering why would Sai Baba come to partake their course and basic food in their lowly and inadequate place while having all the options of a luxurious meal anywhere else. Still, Hemadpant insisted she cook some extra rice.



Once the Holika-dehen pooja was over, the dishes (leaves) were laid out for dinner marked with Rangoli around them, and a seat in the middle was left vacant for the guest. Just when they were about to start eating, two men Ali Mohammed and Moulana Ismu Mujavar came to the door. They apologised when they saw that the family was about to eat, and hurriedly gave him a wrapped packet. When Hemadpant opened it, he found a big picture of Sai Baba. He placed it in the central seat and the family had dinner together.

Meanwhile, at the same time, in Shirdi, Sai Baba ji told Shama that that he partook a meal in Hemadpant’s home!
